This is a very good summer jacket

uniqlo dry-ex uv protection full-zip hoodie

Have you ever heard of winter sandals?

Of course you haven’t. It’s a preposterous idea… or is it? I don’t know what to believe ever since Uniqlo sold me this summer jacket.

It’s called the DRY-EX UV Protection Full-Zip Hoodie. I saw it on sale and didn’t think twice. I bought it a size up. It’s light, comfortable, versatile. It’s easy to pack. It’s not too warm. It’s not too cold. It zips all the way up the neck and “includes thumb holes for UV protection on the back of the hand." I didn’t know I needed to be worried about UV protection on the back of my hand—but then again I didn’t know I needed a summer jacket.

It’s perfect for people who love jackets but live in a climate that rarely warrants them. It’s perfect for crossing a scorching hot parking lot to enter a freezing cold office. It’s perfect for Oasis reunion tours.

Speaking of reunions, one evening I was walking through Santa Monica when the jacket fell out of my bag. I didn’t notice because, again, it’s light as a whisper. But the next morning, I found it on the same street corner, completely untouched.

But why?

Maybe it blended into the concrete. Maybe it looked like an empty trash bag. Or maybe it’s because absolutely nobody thinks they want a summer jacket.

I guess all that sun damage on the back of their hands has finally gone to their heads.
